Fixing the rider

Oh well, today has been quite a day! Bike and luggage is all set to go but my lower back decided to get sore. I don't know what I have done, but the result was that I needed both chiropractic and massage for my back. Now it is slightly better, but sitting is actually the worst kind of treatment for it. Tomorrow I need to ride only about 180 km to the harbor of Turku, Finland. The boat starts at 21:15 and it should be in Stockholm, Sweden 07:00 Sat morning.
For Saturday, we have a leg of 850 km to Oldenburg im Holstein, Germany.

Darned, I have to say! Originally we were supposed to take a Passenger / cargo ferry from Helsinki to Travemünde, Germany across the Baltic sea. We had the tickets and everything was in order - except the shipping company's new ferry was badly delayed from the Italian shipyard. So they had no ferry and they had to cancel all the passengers. We had no other option than to ride through Sweden and Denmark :-(
In my present condition I would have rather spent the 24 hours on a nice ferry than riding through two countries.
Oh well, if that will be our only problem, then we are OK. Todays news about the air terrorists at Heathrow were not at all encouraging. I wonder if there will some extra exercise in preparing the bikes for shipping. Luckily Tom and Hartmut will be dropping their bikes off tomorrow (Friday). We will be in touch with them and learn about the latest procedures. Tom and Hartmut will be flying in the same plane with their bikes whereas Jouko and myself will fly on Air Canada and our bikes follow two days later on Air Transat. One might think that our bikes could be checked more carefully as we are not even on the same plane.
Well, let's not worry too early. Time will tell and now my back tells that I have been sitting long enough.
More later...
